Sellers are no longer required to offer buyer-agent compensation on the MLS. This is now fully negotiable between the parties.
Buyers must sign a written buyer representation agreement before touring homes. This agreement must specify the buyer-agent compensation.
Buyer-agent compensation is now negotiated directly between the buyer and their agent — not dictated by the seller through MLS rules.
These practice changes are in effect regardless of the appeal outcome. Economists estimate they could reduce industry commissions by up to $30 billion per year nationally.
